Abstract

In the early days of the Republic of Chile, women were not considered citizens, but they were allowed to study as they would train their children as future citizens of the country. This situation begins to be questioned with the passage of time, especially with the Amunátegui Decree, the Mandatory Primary Instruction Law and the right to vote, which is why in the 20th century the first generation of citizens and professionals appeared. However, discrimination against the female gender and social inequality are problems that remain in force to this day.
