Presentation

The editorial project arises in mid-2015 from a group of students of Pedagogy in History, Geography and Civic Education of the UMCE (Ex - Pedagogical Institute, Chile), in response to the absence of formal spaces for publication, discussion, dissemination and linkage around History, Geography, and Education as a whole.

The project is resumed in early 2023 as an initiative of fourth year students of pedagogy in history and geography of the UMCE and supported by the Directorate of Student Affairs (DAE) elonging to the same university. It seeks to be a space where students can develop their research skills through the publication of academic writings in different formats and make their work known to the rest of the academic world. It also seeks to be a platform to organize meetings between students from UMCE and other universities to discuss topics relevant to pedagogy, history and geography; and to carry out a dialogue that builds intra and inter-university academic community.

The objective of the journal is to publish writings mainly by students, teachers and graduates on various topics within the areas of pedagogy, history and geography that are rigorous in nature and contribute to knowledge through dialogue and presentation of ideas.

The journal Espacios & Memorias aspires to be recognized nationally and internationally as a leading platform for the dissemination of original and interdisciplinary research in the areas of pedagogy, history and geography. We strive to be a reference in the critical analysis of the interactions between spatial dimensions and individual and collective memories in society. We seek to promote dialogue among diverse disciplines and enrich knowledge on relevant topics, thus contributing to the advancement of critical understanding and reflection on the influence of spaces and memories on power relations, social identities and cultural representations.

Our mission is to provide a space for dissemination and scholarly reflection that promotes original research and critical thinking on the relationships between spaces and memories. Through rigorous blind peer review, we select and publish papers that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in relevant areas such as pedagogy, history and geography, fostering interdisciplinarity and diversity of approaches. We are committed to maintaining high ethical standards, ensuring the originality of the work and respecting copyright. By providing open access to our publications, we aim to enrich the academic community and promote an inclusive and enriching dialogue on spatial dynamics and memories in society.
