Rhythmic Gymnastics Competitions in Chile

Abstract

Rhythmic Gymnastics (RM) is a sport accepted by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). In Chile, it has been developed competitively throughout the national territory. The present research arises from the interest in disseminating the different existing competition modalities. It aims to explain the characteristics, as well as the levels and categories that compose them. It unifies the information based on the application of semi-structured interviews with key informants linked to the country's training and competitive environment. It is concluded that there are four defined organisations. FENAGICHI, which allows the official participation of gymnasts at international level; LIGA GRD, Agrupación Rítmica Chile (ARC) and the Federación Nacional de Deporte Universitario (FENAUDE). At the same time, plus clubs and schools have the purpose of spreading GR in the country.
