Focus and scope

Contextos. Estudios de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales is a bi-annual journal , edited uninterruptedly by the Facultad de Historia, Geografía y Letras of the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación since 1998. Its mission is to publish papers discussing, analysing, reflecting on literature, language, philosophy, arts, communication, history, geography and semiology.

 

The archives of Contextos will remain on the UMCE Portal of Journals, even when this is not published anymore.

Peer review process

Contextos publishes regular issues periodically bi-annually, that is, with two issues a year (July and December) and receives papers, notes and reviews all year round.

 

The Editors’ Committee reserves the right to reject papers which do not meet the editorial norms and can recommend minor amendments to accepted papers. In all cases, the authors, at the moment their papers are accepted, sign forfeit their publication rights over to Contextos. For papers to be accepted, they are submitted to a process of evaluation by the Editor and by external specialists whose identities are not known by the authors (double-blind peer review). The Editor reserves the right to make necessary modifications to adapt to the journal’s style. 

Publication frequency

Contexts published papers on the Open Journal Systems platform as soon as they are available, independently of its printed version.

 The frequency of publication of Contextos is bi-annually (July and December).

 

Open Access policy

Contextos provides immediate open access to all its contents, based on the principle of open access to information, contributing to the exchange and global transmission of knowledge.

 Authors may send their contributions to Contextos for free and users will be able to read, quote, distribute and use the contents as long as the author and the name of the journal Contextos are cited.

 Authors and users can check the articles on the journal's website and download them individually in PDF format.
