Abstract
En Chile, durante la década del 80, se impuso un cambio sustantivo del rol del Estado en educación, junto con la privatización y descentralización del sistema. Se pasó de un Estado Docente a un Estado Subsidiario que ha dado como resultado una mayor fragmentación e inequidad del sistema educativo.
Pero, junto a ello cambió también el objetivo fundamental de la educación: la formación de un ser humano íntegro y armónico -un ciudadano-, por la de un recurso humano funcional a la producción y a la competencia -un consumidor-. Se reforzó, así mismo, la concepción del docente como mero ejecutor e instrumento para el desarrollo de estos fines.
