Abstract
El presente trabajo es parte de la ponencia presentada al “Simposio Internacional Brasil: 500 anos de descobertas literárias", realizado en Brasilia en celebración del quinto centenario del descubrimiento de dicho país. En él se pretende hacer un estudio comparativo entre las obras de las dos mayores poetisas de Chile y Brasil, Gabriela Mistral y Cecilia Meireles, quienes presentan notables similitudes en diversos sentidos: calidad de la palabra poética, simultáneamente fuerte e intensa y frágil y delicada; conciencia de la imposibilidad de expresión cabal; expresión del transcurso del tiempo y permanencia de él, en el amor verdadero y asunción de voces y formas tradicionales, junto a otras, modernas.
