Abstract
El objetivo de este artículo es recuperar imágenes literarias sobre las ciudades planteando, al mismo tiempo, su validez para describir el mundo de la vida cotidiana y sus diversos espacios de sociabilidad, en una sociedad urbana. Se inicia el texto con una reflexión metodológica sobre el tipo de fuentes que puede utilizar el historiador para reconstruir la historia cotidiana urbana, para continuar citando textos de novelas que ejemplifican su uso. Las conclusiones alcanzadas subrayan el valor que puede llegar a tener la fuente literaria como texto documental para hacer la historia
