Abstract
En esta oportunidad el área estudiada es el sector sur del Litoral Central, comprendido entre los balnearios de Algarrobo y Cartagena. Este sector se ha desarrollado como una área turística en que priman las residencias secundarias, construidas en su mayor parte por habitantes del Gran Santiago, dada la cercanía de la ciudad capital con este sector costero. A él acude cerca de un millón de habitantes en los meses de verano, provenientes de la capital, para escapar de los rasgos climáticos que prevalecen en esta ciudad y que hace que el calor se eleve con frecuencia, diariamente, a más de 30°, además de que los meses de verano coinciden con las vacaciones escolares y de muchos empleados públicos y privados.
