Abstract

The jump is conditioned by different factors, among them, anthropometric and biomechanical factors. The purpose of this research is to determine the correlation between reactive strength index (RSI) and calf girth (CG) in university volleyball players. The sample was composed of 29 athletes, the test of repeated jumps was performed, and the calf girt was measured. The correlation between CG and biomechanical variables was determined using the Spearman test. No significant correlations were found between CG and RSI or jump height. The results of this study which allows recognizing that the calf girth is not a direct indicator of reactive capacity or vertical jump height.
