Abstract
The present article deals with the assurance of the quality of education as one of the most popular topics in higher education today. The concept of quality and quality assurance is analyzed to give way to the revision of the national policy on the subject, established as of the enactment of Law 20,129 in 2006. This, centered on the concept of institutional accreditation, Analyzes and exemplifies based on the review of the situation of the Metropolitan University of Education Sciences (UMCE) in the last process of re-accreditation, from which it is intended to establish some direction for the same process that other Institutions of higher education.
