As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and biographical requirements detailed in the Guidelines for authors
  • The text has not been published previously and has not been evaluated by another journal

INSTRUCTIOSN TO AUTHORS

 

General aspects:

The contributions must be submitted via the OJS platform http://revistas.umce.cl/index.php/contextos/index

 

Papers from the same author can be published in following two numbers (one year) in between.

 

A paper can have up to four (4) authors.

 

Authors must make any corrections that are suggested as a result of the peer reviewing process.

 

It is each author’s responsibility to ensure that their authorship is not recognised in the body of the paper (except in the information of the front page, as shown below).

 

Each paper sent to the journal must state the authors’ name underneath the title. At the footer, the following information is required:

  1. Full author or authors’ name
  2. Highest degree and the institution where it was obtained
  3. Institution in which they currently work: Department, Institute, Faculty, University.
  4. Origin of the article (project or initiative from which it originated)
  5. E-mail address

Editorial Norms

  1. Contextos will publish unprecedented contributions in Spanish, English and Portuguese, official languages of the publication.

 

  1. Length of the contributions:

 a. Research papers, essays and articles must have a maximum of 8000 words or 25 pages, including diagrams, bibliography and notes. If the paper is related to an on-going or finished research project, this will be indicated, including name of the project and the institution which is funding it.

b. The reviews must not exceed 7 pages and must include a bibliography note (author, year of the publication, place of publication, publisher, number of pages, editor’s name, translator’s name, etc.) The reviewers’ name must be placed at the end and the institution from which they are from is to be included in parenthesis.

 

The reviews must be about works, whose editions are not older than 5 years.

 c. Notes must have a maximum length of 15 pages and will consist of a critical analysis of the bibliographies, research progress, comments related to specific topics, etc.

  

  1. The contributions must be written using Word, font Cambria 14, for titles, and Cambria 12, for the body of the document. 1.5 line spacing, letter size sheets; top, bottom, left and right margins of 3.0 cm. They must be submitted in digital form via the Open Journal System Platform at http://revistas.umce.cl/index.php/contextos/about/submissions.

 

  1. The papers and notes will be presented with an abstract in their original language (Spanish, Portuguese or English), not exceeding 12 lines, and its corresponding translation into English or Spanish. The work’s title must be translated as well. Five (5) keywords must be included in Spanish, as well as in English, which will orientate the content of the text. The reviews are not required to have a summary or keywords.

 

  1. The titles of the contributions must not exceed 18 words, including connectors.

 

  1. The contribution may be divided into sections and subsections, if necessary, titled and enumerated with Arabic numerals and characters.

 

  1. The words or phrases wished to be emphasised, foreign words, and all the terms and expressions considered to be part of a meta-language must be written in italics. (E.g. Tugendhat states that the term identity has to different uses).

 

  1. If the meaning of a word is to be clarified, single quotation marks will be used (E.g. Etymologically, text means ’fabric ’)

 

  1. The contributions must include citations and bibliographical references in accordance with American Psychological Association (APA) or Modern Language Association (MLA)

  1. The author must include bibliographical references in the item “quotes” of the subsection Metadata separated one form another with a space.
