Abstract
Abstract: Despite the fact that Marcel Duchamp never set foot in Chile (he lived in Buenos Aires a few months between 1918 and 1919), his ascendency over 20th century’s avant-garde and neo-avant-garde movements is undeniable. Parra’s work could not be completely understood without Duchamp’s influence: from his first antipoems until his 21st century’s installations, many of the iconoclastic strategies produced by the French artist are present in the Chilean poet’s creations. This paper opens a dialogue between Parra's and Duchamp's works, from a multidisciplinary and transatlantic perspective, with the aim of underlining the prevalence and fertility of Duchamp’s lineage in the Chilean literary field".
