Abstract
Hace 200 años que Alexander von Humboldt llegó a América en un viaje de exploración e investigación que duró cinco años. Estudió profundamente la flora, la fauna y la geografía de nuestro continente y también las costumbres de los pueblos y las características de las lenguas nativas. Esto le valió que Bolívar lo llamara “verdadero descubridor de América. ”
Nunca estuvo en Chile, pero hubo científicos y pintores contemporáneos a su tiempo, que bajo su inspiración, realizaron en nuestro país una labor semejante a la suya.
