Abstract
Frida Kahlo, figura fundamental en la historia cultural de México del siglo XX, creó un vigoroso universo pictórico, cuya propuesta artística, espejo y reflejo de su propia vida, forjó su propia leyenda. Su vida y su obra tan plena de símbolos, como el dolor, la soledad, lo trágico, han tenido repercusiones en ámbitos plásticos, como la pintura, la escultura, el teatro y el cine.
Sus características personales son únicas:
• Pintora (oficio casi exclusivamente masculino para la Historia del Arte).
• Comunista (doctrina que sólo de modo secundario toma en cuenta a la mujer).
• Nacionalista fervorosa (desde la apariencia al vestuario).
• Inválida, mutilada físicamente (sin embargo, proclama “viva la vida ”).
• De costumbres heterodoxas (hazaña pecaminosa para la sociedad).
