Abstract
The present study establishes the impact of coming from technical secondary education on several academic results and vocational decisions of students who entered professional technical careers. The effect on the academic performance within the first and second year was established; as well as the persistence of the student in the second year of studies and the academic credits completed in the first year of their career. Likewise, the study establishes the effect on the decisions regarding the choice of a technical career, the study shift (day or evening), the type of studies (professional or technical), and the request for financial support (scholarship, credit, both, etc
