Abstract

The objective of this paper is to contrast the proposal of locutions which Kazumi Koike (2003) considers "of a general purpose" with our own variety of Spanish. For this, we have selected a corpus of 35 phraseological units, taken from Koike's work and we look for evidence of use in Internet texts, mainly in national press. In addition, we complement this search with the definitions proposed by the DLE. In those cases, in which the author's proposal does not coincide with national uses, or may be complemented, we also offer examples of use for those variants. Among the main conclusions, we highlight the high presence of general-purpose locutions in Chilean Spanish and the possibility that contrastive works of this kind highlight particular aspects of the different variants of Spanish.
