Abstract
La jerga es un vocabulario típicamente oral, y cuando aparece en la escritura, es especialmente en textos periodísticos, literarios y en el teatro, a fin de dar mayor realidad al diálogo. Antes existía prejuicio en relación a estos modismos, pues para muchos eran sinónimo de mundo marginal, de los excluídos de la sociedad por actividades ilícitas o por pobreza, siendo considerado vocabulario de comunidades restringidas. Pero hay también vocabularios y grupos restringidos que no están ligados a la marginalidad ni al crimen. Recientemente se ha estudiado la jerga de los jóvenes, de los estudiantes, del fútbol, etc. El presente trabajo tratará de la jerga juvenil en tres contextos latinoamericanos.
