Abstract
En la década de los sesenta el auge de la lingüística y de metodologías que privilegiaban el desarrollo de la competencia comunicativa desplazaron a la literatura de la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera en la educación secundaria. Este trabajo analiza la revaloración del papel que desempeña la literatura en la adquisición del idioma y destaca los beneficios lingüísticos, culturales y de motivación personal que aporta.
