Abstract
En el presente trabajo se hace una aproximación a El péndulo de Foucault aplicando algunas de las teorías semióticas del propio Umberto Eco. Para el autor Eco la novela es ma máquina de generar interpretaciones; a la semiótica le corresponde descubrir qué interpretaciones son correctas y cuáles sobrepasan la intencionalidad de la obra, sin desconocer ni traicionar el efecto poético inscrito en la capacidad del texto para generar lecturas siempre distintas, sin agotarse jamás del todo.
