Abstract
La cueca chilena como expresión poética popular nos ofrece un riquísimo conocimiento del mundo y del hombre que muchas veces las ciencias sociales no pueden entregar. La vida urbana, crónicas, amores, desamores son sus motivos recurrentes… y por supuesto, la cárcel. Todo esto en el contexto de la vida bohemia y pendenciera de las nacientes urbes industriales, durante las postrimerías del siglo XIX y principios del XX.
