Abstract
Desde la Semiótica, que es la ciencia general de los signos, es posible abordar el discurso literario, considerando tres dimensiones: semántica, sintáctica y pragmática, según las relaciones signo-signo, signo-objeto y signo-sujeto, respectivamente.
El presente trabajo se propone aplicar el método semiótico al texto “Leyenda ” de Jorge Luis Borges. El desarrollo de este análisis es progresivo, ya que se inicia en el plano léxico para llegar al modelo semiótico. De esta manera se puede apreciar la dimensión lingüístico- funcional del texto y su creciente aproximación al espacio literario de la obra escogida, cuyo significado connotativo y metafórico es develado al lector.
