Los orígenes del Departamento Universitario Obrero Campesino –DUOC de La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

Abstract

At the end of 1968 a group of students of the School of Pedagogy of the Catholic Pontificia Universidad of Chile founded the University Rural Worker Department -DUOC- as a result of the University Reform which started the previous year, the idea was that the University was in the service of the most abandoned and culturally isolated and that the students started to train, develop and edúcate to whom had not had access to it.
The objective of this article is to make known the histórica! origins of the DUOC, high lighting its institutional philosophy and the organizational developmenl during the first decade of existence.
