Abstract

The information available on 13 species, 4 genera and 2 subfamilies of the Culicidae known from Chile
is given. The genus more diversified in Chile is Culex Linnaeus with 9 species. The importance of making
studies in the Culicidae due to its relevance as vectors of different disease and their potential entrance
to the country are discussed.
