Abstract
La presente reseña, intenta dilucidar las fuertes motivaciones que han provocado en el Doctor Armando Cartes la necesidad de escribir un libro a cerca de la historia completa del Biobío en Chile. Cartes, desde la interdisciplinariedad explica cómo los hechos del pasado, que buscan ser descritos y explicados desde una posición más bien centralista, tienen un origen importante en el territorio biobense, y de la misma forma, entiende que los acontecimientos del pasado, en la forma de pensar al Biobío como un territorio lleno de identidad e historia propia, tienen una relevancia única para los estudios historiográficos en Chile.
