From hypokinesia to motor inefficiency in times of the COVID-19 pandemic

Objective: To analyze the beliefs of Physical Education teachers regarding the sociomotor reality and predominance of intellectual education of schoolchildren in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: it was based on the qualitative approach under the interpretive-critical paradigm, with which the exploration of experiences and beliefs was intended through the speeches of Physical Education teachers. Results: The results indicate that in the teaching role regarding the promotion of sociomotor skills, a great emphasis should be placed on progressive teaching, going back in the curriculum in order to have an effective sociomotor development. The pandemic affects the psycho-physical well-being due to a state of hypokinesia, therefore there has been no progress in sociomotor skills. From educational establishments, there has been a predominance of intellectual education over Physical Education for reasons of a curricular nature. Conclusions: it is concluded that virtual education does not have a positive impact on sociomotor development due to lack of social interaction and praxical.
