Physical Education and Epistemology: Body Cultural Practices as a Study Aim

Abstract

The aim of the present work was the conceptualization of Cultural Body Practices as an object of study for the field of Physical Education. We think of practices instead of means, activities or knowledge, which implies a first definition for the construction of the aim, which is completed in the field. In addition, and as part of the decision process, by investigating these practices from a multi-perspective, an epistemological space of complex, transdisciplinary and pluralist dialogue is enabled. Another founding decision in our process was to recover the socio-historical situational context from which a temporal dynamic is generated in relation to these same practices in different places and times. Starting from this epistemological base and the specificity of the field, we arrive at a conceptualization and the construction of analyzers that lead us to think about their teachings in the educational system in relation to their socio-educational and physical-motor potential, without colonizing them by schooling them.
