Noncommunicable diseases (NCD) (NCD) Consumption of phenolic compounds present in fruits and vegetables are NTD' protective factor. These compounds are considered bioactive, due to their antioxidant capacity against processes associated with cells oxidative stress. The aim of this literature review in Elsevier was to synthesize the knowledge on biological properties of antioxidants in natural sources. Of the published articles, 25% were open access and from mainstream journals. These focus on people's diets and how food intake can reduce prevalence of these diseases. The synthesis of articles facilitates access to scientific knowledge and supports health education and NTD prevention.
