Abstract

This study examined the acute effect of three recreational trail running sessions on subjective well-being in physical education teacher education students. A quantitative repeated-measures design with pre- and post-session assessments across three consecutive weeks was used. Twenty-four students completed all assessments. Well-being was assessed with the Recreational Sport Well-Being Scale (RSWBS) as the main measure and the WHO-5 as a complementary indicator of recent general well-being. Total RSWBS scores showed a favorable trend in session 1 and significant increases in sessions 2 and 3. Dimension-level analyses highlighted life satisfaction in session 1 and positive emotion in sessions 2 and 3. The WHO-5 showed an upward descriptive trend without statistically significant differences. These findings suggest a favorable acute effect of recreational trail running on subjective well-being.
