Abstract

Introduction: Academic stress can occur in a university, school, or work context, presenting tension that affects being faced with feelings of tiredness and restlessness. On the other hand, physical exercise is a structuring and planning of physical activity, its purpose is to improve physical fitness. Objective: relate levels of academic stress with the frequency of physical exercise in students of Pedagogy in Physical Education and Kinesiology of a private university in Chile. Methodology: quantitative, non-experimental, correlational. The non-probabilistic and intentional sample, 135 students of Pedagogy in Physical Education and 122 of Kinesiology. The instruments used were SISCO (academic stress) and IPAQ (physical exercise and physical activity). Results: the Physical Education sample performs physical activity and exercise more frequently than the Kinesiology students, this one presents higher levels of academic stress than the previous career. Conclusion: the hypotheses about the relationship between exercise and physical activity against stress were fulfilled, reflected in the results of this study, observing a difference between the careers and a correlation between the frequency of physical exercise and the levels of academic stress. It is suggested to expand the sample in number of people and races using an instrument that focuses specifically on physical exercise.
